Hi- great questions! Behavioural intervention is when we look at changing or modifying someone’s behaviour in a research setting. So for sleep we may have a baseline measure (e.g., measure of insomnia severity) then conduct an intervention (e.g., cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia) and then repeat the measure of insomnia severity to see if it has improved through the intervention. This particular intervention changes the way you behave around sleep to help you to sleep better.

My favourite aspect in the study of sleep, if seeing how much people can improve in such a short space of time. I work with people who have been sleep deprived for years, and suddenly they are able to get the sleep they need. I love being able to do that for people and it can have such a drastic effect on mental and physical health.
